June is National Safety Month

Each year, thousands of preventable workplace injuries occur due to unsafe practices, insufficient training, or simply being unaware of potential hazards. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2023 alone, over 2.6 million non-fatal work injuries were reported in the United States. These numbers serve as a reminder that safety is not something that can be taken lightly—it must be part of the foundation of every successful operation.

June is National Safety Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness and promoting best practices to prevent injury and illness in the workplace. At Breaux Petroleum, safety isn’t just a box we check. It is the guiding principle behind everything we do.

Whether in the office or on a customer worksite, our team members understand that their commitment to safety protects not only themselves but also our coworkers, customers, and the community. For us, safety is a priority, not just a slogan. It’s embedded in our daily operations and championed by our leadership.

“At Breaux Petroleum, we strive to maintain a proactive safe work culture,” said Nick Vaccaro, HSEQ Manager. “Open communication and employee engagement are critical in meeting that goal. Those pillars are critical in identifying potential hazards during the pre-job planning phase and then coming around full circle for a post job review to identify lessons learned. When your team feels comfortable enough to participate in these proceedings, that is when you know you have built an effective safety culture.”

Our Investment in Safety
To support our mission of an incident and injury-free workplace, our employees take part in comprehensive training programs throughout the year to ensure an ongoing commitment to safety. These programs include:

  • TWIC, HAZMAT, and DOT certifications
  • Defensive driving courses to promote safety on and off the road
  • Annual and routine physicals to assess readiness for physically demanding tasks
  • Continuing education and refresher courses that reinforce key safety concepts
  • Daily “tailgate talks” that address potential hazards before each shift begins

By fostering a proactive mindset, we aim to prevent accidents before they occur. We believe safety is everyone’s responsibility, and we empower each employee to speak up and act if they identify a risk.

Safety in Action
In recognition of National Safety Month, we will be sharing safety tips and information throughout June on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages. We invite you to follow along and share how you’re promoting safety in your own workplace. Let’s work together to create a safer, healthier environment for all.
